This Colombian island is located in the Pacific Ocean and is home to a national park that is teeming with marine life. Despite the size of the island, Gorgona has some of the most interesting diving in the entire region. There’s also a good chance of seeing sharks, dolphins, whale sharks, and even sea lions. Sometimes Hammerheads and whales can also be spotted at this national park.
While Gorgona is a difficult island to get to, usually involving flights to Guapi and a motor-taxi to the islands itself, but it’s well worth the trip. The best time to visit the island for scuba divers is between May and October.
Popular dive sites include La Catedral, La Tiburonera and El Planchon.
