Fiji is known for its beautiful soft coral, colorful hard corals and marine life. The coral is healthy and vibrant making it the perfect home for marine life. Visibility is exquisite with crystal-clear blue water. With over 400 types of coral to spot and 1,500 species of fish. You’re sure to spot something new on every dive.
Fiji has thousands of dive sites. Some still yet to be uncovered. The water conditions are generally quite calm in Fiji resulting in incredible visibility. The months from July to September can sometimes have rougher sea conditions. Drift diving is popular and strong currents are common during these months.
The Shark Reef Marine Reserve is one of the best places in the world to dive with sharks. The shark dive at Beqa Lagoon can mean you’ll see up to 8 species of shark in one dive. Both micro and macro marine life can be found here. With incredible visibility, Fiji has perfect conditions for underwater photographers.
When is the best time to go diving in Fiji?
Anytime, diving is suitable at any time of year. Water is usually clearer during the drier months from June to September. Manta rays can often be spotted between March and May as they come to eat the plankton blooms. November to March is the rainy season but a lot of people prefer these months as the crowds tend to be a little less.

Visibility: Visibility in Fiji is exquisite ranging from 5 to 40 meters. In winter at some dive sites, visibility can even go above 50 meters.

Rainbow Reef, Somosomo Strait
When you ask people about diving in Fiji, they will be sure to mention Rainbow Reef. Aptly named Rainbow Reef for its colorful coral. From soft and hard, to fan and plated corals, Rainbow Reef has them all. Amongst all the coral lives large pelagic life including sharks, manta rays, and tuna.
Ngali Passage, Gau Island
Famous for large pelagic life and exciting dives, the Ngali Passage is not for the faint of heart. A memorable and adventurous drift dive. This site is only available 3 hours a day. The current propels you forward, along a sandy road. The walls of the passage are lined with soft and hard coral. The water is filled with barracudas and reef sharks.
Beqa Lagoon, Beqa Island
One of the most renowned dives in Fiji made famous by the chance to spot sharks. Experienced divers only. Home to over 7 species of sharks including bull and tiger sharks. This dive will be one that stays with you for the rest of your life.
