Germany’s Highlights

Germany is famous for its beautiful alpine lakes and for the Baltic Sea. Wrecks are a common occurrence in the Baltic Sea. Due to the climate, a 7mm or drysuit is recommended when diving in Germany. For some of the alpine lakes, an altitude diving speciality is required. 

When is the best time to go diving in Germany? 

It is possible to dive all year-round in Germany but most prefer to dive during summer between May and October. In the winter, ice diving is popular. 

Water Temperature: In winter, between 3°C and 8°C. During summer, ranges between 14°C and 30°C depending on location. 

Currents: None to medium

Visibility: Between 2 and 10 meters

The Hellend, Baltic Sea

An 18 meter long steel yacht is found in the Baltic Sea. It’s relatively shallow and makes for a great dive for inexperienced divers. 

Sundhäuser See

A stunning lake that features a sunken city including a church, underwater cemetery and wreck. Take a swim along pathways and watch fish swimming in the streets. A truly unique experience. 

Walchensee

Walchensee is 800 meters above sea level and requires adequate altitude training before diving here. It’s a stunning alpine lake that is more than 180 meters deep.
