Grenada’s Highlights

A wreck lover’s paradise, Grenada features the most stunning wrecks in the Caribbean. Some dive sites feature exhilarating currents making for interesting drift dives. Macro lovers will also enjoy the clear water and variety of marine life. 

Carriacou, is an island off Grenada’s shore that can be accessed by ferry or place. It’s name means ‘Land of Reefs,’ famous for its virgin reefs with pristine clear water. These healthy reefs are home to nurse sharks, rays, and turtles.

When is the best time to go diving in Grenada? 

Diving can be done at any time of year. Due to its Southern position, Grenada rarely receives hurricanes that affect the rest of the Caribbean. 

Water Temperature: The water is between 24°C and 30°C at any time of year. 

Currents: None to strong

Visibility: Visibility is great all year-round between 20 and 30 meters.

Grenada’s best dive sites

Bianca C Shipwreck 

A famous shipwreck because it sank not once but twice. The wreck features a swimming pool and is teeming with marine life. Due to strong currents and its depth, the wreck is reserved for advanced divers. Bianca C is a 200 meter long ship and was sunk in 1962 after an explosion on board before being towed to her current location.

Flamingo Bay 

Starting at 7 meters and extending down to 30 meters, this site offers an interesting wall and drift diving experience. It’s part of the Molinere Protected Seascape and full of interesting marine animals to spot.

Grenada’s Underwater Sculpture Park 

The first-ever underwater sculpture park was set up in Grenada. A British sculptor, Jason de Caires Tailor, has placed a series of sculptures underwater that are not covered in life. Over time, the sculptures themselves become artificial reefs.

About the country 

Grenada is often referred to as Spice Isle due to its long history of growing spices. Grand Anse is a beautiful, white sandy beach to explore. A large part of the country is covered in rainforest waiting to be explored. 

Grand Etang National Park has some beautiful waterfalls and is a great place to go hiking. Grenada is home to leatherback turtles who have links to dinosaurs and are part of the largest reptiles on the planet.

Getting to Grenada

Grenada is accessible from North America, South America and several European destinations. Some flights may stop in St. Lucia before reaching Grenada. Also, many cruise ships that operate in the Caribbean have a stop in St. George’s harbor. Grenada is a relatively small island but the best way to get around is to rent a car.
